Every Thursday, I will be posting a photo from my travels and a spotlight on the location. Today’s Photo Thursday was taken while I was visiting Paris, France for training before I headed off to Equatorial Guinea. The Eiffel Tower is the iconic landmark of France. This was my second trip to Paris so I didn’t feel the need to head up the tower but I did stop by for a visit.
The Eiffel Tower was built as a temporary structure for the 1889 World’s Fair. The tower was initially disliked by many Parisians but they have grown to love it. The tower is 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall and is the tallest building in Paris. The tower has two way up: the elevator and the stairs.
Great shot! I was there for the first time just over a year ago and loved it. I think my favorite Eiffel Tower memories were going to the top (what views!) and enjoying a night picnic during a light show.
I have plans to go to the top at night at least once. It looks amazing.
Love how this is framed with the road running through below. What a contrast with Guinea that must have been.
It was such a huge contrast to then move to Equatorial Guinea.
I love this shot! And I love the the French hated it when it was built and how now, they probably wouldn’t be the city they are without it!
I will admit that is one of my favorite parts of it.
Lovely photo, shows the tower in context, rather than just by itself.
I agree. The tower needs context to really see the scale of it.
Gotta love views of the Eiffel Tower! Taking a trip up to the top of the tower at sunset was the highlight of my trip there!
I would love to see the sunset from the tower. I bet it is amazing.
