Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore

Every Thursday, I will be posting a photo from my travels.  Today’s Photo Thursday is from the top of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, Italy.  Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore is also know as the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower.  It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of central Florence. The Cathedral was consecrated in 1436 and the basillica is one of the largest in Italy.  The Cathedral’s distinctive exterior is made of white, green and red marble was added in 1864.

Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore is one of my favorite Cathedrals in Europe.  Which Cathedral is yours?
