It was a day full of waterfalls and amazing views along to South Coast of Iceland. It was late afternoon when we arrived at one of my favorite places in Iceland – Jökulsárlón. My then-boyfriend and I were on an amazing 3-day adventure weekend road trip in Iceland. We both were super excited because we were going to head out to see an Iceland Ice Cave. We were being provided the Ice Caves by Vatnajokull Glacier from Guide to Iceland.
I am up before dawn and packing my bags. Surprisingly, it was just after 9 am and I had beaten the sun up. I double checked my hostel room and headed upstairs for breakfast. I had some of my favorite local Icelandic yogurt while I did a quick weather check. The weather report was clear but I had learned over the last six days that the weather could change in an instant. I walked out of my hostel and into the bitter Icelandic cold. The sky was just starting to get light as I gassed up my car for the next stage of my Icelandic Winter Road Trip. I had a little over two hours drive ahead to get to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.
Over the last couple of trips, I have found collecting souvenirs from my travels has gotten harder. Walking into most tourist shops, it is hard to find souvenirs that aren’t mass produced in places like China. I wouldn’t mind souvenirs made in China while I am in China but I don’t want to buy souvenirs in Colombia that are made in China. I have collected some amazing locally made travel souvenirs from my travels around the world. I asked several of my fellow travel bloggers to share their favorite unique souvenirs.
Hello 2016. I can’t wait to see what you bring in my adventures. 2015 was a great year for exploring the world. I visited 3 continents and 7 countries. I had some great adventures and some amazing experiences. I even had time to visit a few US states and cross 5 National Parks off my list.
Every Thursday, I will be posting a photo from my travels and a spotlight on the location. Today’s spotlight Thursday is from my winter Iceland road trip. On this three-week road trip, I had some amazing adventures and some unique experiences. One of my favorite was visiting the Sόlheimasandur Plane Crash site. The crash site is the remains of a United States Navy Douglas Super DC-3 airplane.
