Spotlight Thursday – Meerkat Manor (or Round-Tailed Sround Squirrel Manor) of Arizona


Every Thursday, I will be posting a photo from my travels and a spotlight on the location. Today’s Spotlight Thursday is of the .  I took this photo is of a pair of round-tailed ground squirrel from my cross-country US road trips.  On my way from Tennessee to Colorado, I stopped and spent a couple of days in Saguaro National Park.  This park is around Tuscon, Arizona.  The park has two regions split by the city of Tuscon.  I spent time in both the Rincon Mountain District (Saguaro Park East) and Tucson Mountain District (Saguaro Park West). Spotlight Thursday – Golden Monkeys of Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Every Thursday, I will be posting a photo from my travels and a spotlight on the location. Today’s Spotlight Thursday is from my recent African safari to Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda. Volcanoes National Park is one of the most well know places in the world.  It is one of the last remaining havens for mountain gorillas. One of the highlights of my safari did include a trek to the famous mountain gorillas, but another highlight was my visit with their smaller and no less endangered cousins the Golden Monkeys of Volcanoes National Park. A morning at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust – Elephant Orphanage

A Masi warrior greets me as I get out of my hired car or the day.  I am at the outer edge of Nairobi National Park in Nairobi, Kenya.  I am here to visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. David Sheldrick is a world famous orphanage.  It isn’t a typical orphanage.  It’s residents are significantly larger than humans.   Sheldrick is a wildlife orphanage that specialize in rescuing and raising orphans African wildlife.  Most of the residents are victims of human/wildlife conflicts from around Kenya.
