Virginia is called “Old Dominion.” It is the oldest of the original 13 colonies. The state was home to the first British colonies in the “New World.” The state is borders the Chesapeake Bay and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Also being a Virginia denizen, I have dome many of your list items but not others. #17 is perhaps the ultimate.
I would agree with you. I really need to check off more of the list.
What a great list! I’ve never visited Virginia before. Thanks for sharing 🙂
You’re welcome. I can’t wait to complete the list.
You have quite the list — I would love to hike Virginia’s portion of the Appalachian trail. I’ve hiked New Jersey’s so far.
I have done some of Tennessee but need to start on VA.
I used to live in Wash DC and did a lot of these things on your list. One of my favorites was Skyline Drive and trying out the wineries that are located in the Shenandoah Valley. Also really loved Assateague.. What an awesome place.
I really need to drive the Skyline Drive. It is on my list of things to do this summer.
I think every American should visit the great state of Virginia. I recently visited Colonial Williamsburg Yorktown and Jamestown. All these three little towns are literally living history museums. You have a huge bucket list. Hope you’ll get to accomplish it all.
I need to visit Yorktown. Hopefully, I will make in sometime next month.
I love the idea of making a bucket list for your home/current state. It seems much less daunting than tackling the whole world! I’ve only been to Richmond, so there’s plenty left for me to see in Virginia. I’m thinking about making one for Florida though.
I plan on doing a list for all 50 states at some point. Florida is coming up shortly.
I think we all too often forget that there are SO many things to do in each state. This makes me want to make a similar list for when we move back to Nebraska (ok, so it might be harder to make such a long list for a state that is covered in corn, but again…I think I’d be surprised with what I could come up with!)
I bet you could come up with a pretty good list for Nebraska. I plan on doing a list for all 50 states at some point in the future.
Looks like you’ve got quite the list to get through. Have fun with your experiences along the way.
I am looking forward to it.
I really cannot say as I do not have much information about Virginia but I think I would love to stroll through the place and look at the beautiful old buildings 🙂
I know. I need to spend more time strolling though Virginia.
Wow! That’s a lot just for a state! I’m never really a bucket list type of person. How did you decide on the list? And what to do first?
That is just Virginia. Some of it is easy to pick since I want to get to all the national park service sites and the rest is trails or things that sound like a lot of fun from some research on the state.
I am ALL about ticking things off my bucket list, how exciting is it when you actually see some ticks too.
I am keen to hear how the Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs taste. 🙂
I have had Florida Blue Crabs so I assume they taste similar but can’t wait for Blue Crab season.
Wow, that’s a big list! There’s so much to do in Virginia, especially historical things. I like history, so I’d really love to visit Colonial Williamsburg.
I really need to go to Colonial Williamsburg during the day and see all the reenactments.
As a Canadian I got to admit I don’t know a lot about Virginia, although I’ve heard about Colonial Williamsburg. It looks like there of cool things to see and do here. My friend, who’s a community events organizer where I live, went to an event conference one time and said there’s supposed to be a great boating festival (Tall Ship Festival, I think?) in Norfolk, so that would be cool to see too.
I’ll have to look that festival up. Yea there is so much to do. Each state has a lot of amazing things to do.
Great bucket list. Lots of great suggestions!!!
Thank you.
So many great options for things to do in Virginia–what a great bucket list! My husband hiked MacAfee Knob last summer at sunrise and it looked amazing. Would love to do that sometime, as well as visit Mount Vernon!
I need to start working on finishing this list up. There is so much I want to do.
This is really a cool list. I haven’t been to Virginia but I googled some of the places on your list and they’re simply beautiful.
I know. I had never heard of some of these places since I moved to Virginia.
I heard some of the hikes here are amazing so I’m glad to see them make it to your list! Good luck in completing them,
I will get them done eventually. I love to hike.
I’m a huge fan of bucketlists. Sounds like you have a good mix of activities and you’re off to a great start.
